APUA: new Brand, new focus, new day!
Still settling into the New Year, the refrain remains the same, "global recession". The term has become a catchphrase that has hampered the entrepreneurial spirit, rendering us unable to see opportunity. It continues to conjure complaints and inactivity rather than enterprise. However, I see the recession as the perfect time for ingenuity.
In this issue we have a wide array of topics to share with you, here are just a few. Yves Ephraim lays out the steps to broadening your market regionally through telecommunications with, "Using Technology as Your Survival Strategy for 2012". Julianne N. Jarvis interviews Dr. Errol Samuel on Quality Management Systems and his commitment to fostering entrepreneurship in the Caribbean with "An Entrepreneur in the Making: A Conversation with Dr. Errol Samuel". And, the EPA Implementation Unit explains how you can profit from trade agreements with the European Union with "EPA Implementation in Antigua & Barbuda-One-Year Forward".
Also in this issue:
- Technology as your Survival Strategy
- Antigua & Barbuda Budget Review
- Hotels in the Caribben More Energy

Houston-based Stanford Financial, an investment firm run by R. Allen Stanford that claims to have more than $50 billion in assets, is under investigation by the Securities and Exchange Commission and other regulators. They're taking a hard look at the CDs sold by Stanford Financial, which boast interest rates double the market average.
Stanford was the first American to be knighted by that Commonwealth nation and was presented with the honor by the then Governor-General of Antigua and Barbuda, Sir James Carlisle.
