The rum trade has been in existence in Antigua & Barbuda for centuries, starting with a history of colonialism and slavery.

Anthony Bento, Managing Directory of the Antigua Distillery Ltd, takes the cover of this issue, in which we delve into the intoxicating industry of wines, rums, beverages and several other businesses closely linked to their production. Business Focus takes a closer look at both the manufacturing and distribution aspect of this thriving industry.

Wadadli Beer is Antigua's only local beer. Produced by the Antigua Brewery and distributed by Kennedy's Club Limited, this indigenous product is enjoyed by locals and visitors alike.

The Antigua & Barbuda Hospitality Training Institute has in recent times taken great strides in improving the art of service within the hospitality industry. A chat with Calvin Ambrose and Calvin Carr gives great hope for the industry in 2010 and beyond.

Local distributors of wines and spirits, one entrepreneur that produces her own wine, and another that operates a small cake making enterprise, are all featured. We also took the time to visit a few of the places that offer people an environment in which to relax with friends while enjoying an array of beverages.
